SYNOPSIS:

In a small town on the Spanish coast, close to Bilbao. Two families are in conflict. The Aristeguis, owners of the famous local Shipyard and the Otxoas, fishermen and local workers.
Salvador and Begona Aristegui built a naval empire, based on the Shipyard. They are the parents of the young Javier, a dreamy surf teacher, Inaki, the son who follows in his parents' ways, helping to run the company, Ainhoa, the daughter who is now City's Mayor and Jon, the oldest, a biologist.
Julen Otxoa is a local fisherman, married to Amaia, who works at Aristegui's Shipyard. They are the parents of the young Eneko, who works as a fisherman with his father Julen, the sweet Maite, a veterinarian who works at the local Environmental Reserve, Joseba, the eldest, who is in prison and hot Anne, a biologist.
Biologists, Jon Aristegui and Anne Otxoa soon fall in love. Anne is very talented, and she has a brilliant idea. She discovers a protein in the city's sea water - and synthesizes it to produce a medicine: The Cancer Cure. However, Anne does not have the money to pay for all the processes and experiments before launching the drug. Jon, then get the money for that. He asks for help to his father, Salvador - owner of Aristegui Shipyards. Salvador then invests money in the creation of a laboratory in the city. Jon and Anne's dream was coming true.
In the meantime, Anne's older brother, Joseba, is arrested. He is member of ETA: Euskadi Ta Askatasuna - and was arrested after carrying out an attack in the city.
As research progresses, The Lab begins to receive new investors. The business starts to become millionaire.And money becomes the cancer that destroys the relationship between Anne and Jon. Jon then remembers how the laboratories came about: It was his and Anne's dream that his father invested to realize. Jon and Anne were about to discover a new medicine, a drug to cure cancer . At night, Jon receives another threat for Anne's disapearance. He calls Susana, the police officer, an old friend. Jon talks to her and remembers the night that the drug was approved by the government to be sold. The lab had a party to celebrate. Anne was slow to arrive and Jon lost his mind with her in the middle of the party. They were no longer having a good relationship and Anne disappeared the next day, with Jon being found unconscious on the beach. Ari summons the cinema employee to testify. She said that Stefaan was not in the room when the film ended. His alibi broke down. Stefaan is called in to clarify. He says he watched the movie to the end and then came home without hurry.Ari then shows the video of the party. There, Stefaan cuts the cake with his left hand. Discredited and without alibi, Stefaan is now seen as a possible killer of Ross, his "bastard" daughter. After another day of trial, Arnold says goodbye to his monkey "friend". Tommy goes to the Berlin Zoo. Holly is going to talk to Joeri. She never told anyone. She always said she came home with her parents dead. The truth about Brechtje's death is almost revealed. Delphine calls for help. Mike is arrested for domestic violence. The verdict day arrives. The Judge explains the rules of the verdict. They don't all need to agree with the verdict, the simple majority is enough. The tie innocents the defendant. The 5-7 loss is considered a simple majority and forces the judge and two other assistants to vote. Noel asks the Judge what happens if someone leaks information to the press. The Judge says he would be invalidated and the first reserve judge would take his place. Noel remembers what happened last night, after Mike assaulted Delphine. Noel took the children and Delphine to sleep at his house and Delphine says - "the funniest thing is that I lost my life, and I'm not even going to vote." Noel tells the Judge that he was responsible for the leaks to the press and is replaced by Delphine.

The jurors arrive at the verdict. It's a 5-7 - simple majority. The Judge and his assistants are obliged to confirm the verdict. Frie is convicted of Brechtje's death, but she is innocent for the death of daughter Ross. After the trial, Joeri decides to surrender to the police because of Gustavo's death. With Frie's innocence in Ross's death, the question remains - who killed her? Margot distrusts Stefaan. Brechtje and Ross' death is cleared up in a flashback.
