Tereza has been married for 10 years to Marko, a sailor by profession. At 37, she had her fourth miscarriage. Her little sister who already has three children, the rest of her family and the people around her make her question her life. She then takes the radical decision to turn the page and leaves her husband. Having become somewhat arrogant and selfish, she falls in love with her newly acquired freedom.
Daniel Boltanski is a famous writer, but he is obsessed with confidentiality and therefore signs himself under the pseudonym of Serge Novak, aided by his agent.
One day Daniel has an affair with a young woman and the next morning he will discover that she is the bride of his son whom he has always cared very little about and has never built a father-son relationship.
The writer will find himself at the center of a blackmail: he is accused of having copied the novel that gave him his first success and may have had a relationship in the past from which a daughter was born that he never recognized in Poland.
