Mike Gallagher is one of Los Angeles' top cops, who is acting head of Hollywood's homicide division. But Gallagher is soon wrenched out of his orderly existence into a dirty world of killing and corruption. Gallagher's affair with a married woman leads him to stumble across a vicious scene of multiple murders on L.A. highway Rainbow Drive. Gallagher senses something strange when reinforcements arrive even before he has called them. When his superiors freeze him out of the case, Gallagher begins his own investigation. With the help of mysterious ally Laura Demming, Gallagher draws closer to the truth, and danger moves closer to his partner and mistress. His investigation propels him into a web of drugs and vice, corruption and cover-up - an intricate web that implicates some of the city's most senior figures.

Cheating Notes:
Mike Gallagher sleeps with Christine, a married woman, and she tries to persuade him to get married by explaining the benefits!
(Christine is a hotwife; her husband allows her to sleep with other men. He just asks her to be discreet.)
"-Christine: You need to get married.
-Mike: what?
-Christine: Married men live longer.
-Mike: I don't believe in marriage.
-Christine: You'd feel settled. You'd be free to focus on your work.
-Mike: I hate my work.
-Christine: You love your work.
You don't know how much better you'd be if you were married.
-Mike: I don't trust married people. They sneak around, lie.
-Christine: I'm discreet. It's not the same thing as lying. Anyway, your sexuality's private. It belongs to you.
-Mike: Henry feel that way?
-Christine: Yes. He doesn't want to know what I do.
-Mike: You're living a lie.
-Christine: You don't know anything about my marriage. He's my best friend.
-Mike: OK.
-Christine: He takes care of me. I take care of him. We have continuity.
-Mike: Mm-hmm.
-Christine: You can't get everything from one person.
I feel for you. It doesn't mean I don't love Henry.
I'm just a slave to my passion
Mike: Right. I understand."
