Marianne leaves Abel for Paul, his best friend and the father of her unborn offspring. Eight years later, Paul dies and Marianne returns to Abel. However, things have changed for the both of them and feelings of jealousy surround their new relationship.
The movie focuses on Kristine, an art historian. Kristine’s personal life take a dramatic twist when the whole family is gathering together and the secrets of the past are being revealed at her gracious mansion in the French countryside.
An adaptation of Milena Agus’ eponymous novel set after WWII, “Mal de Pierres” (“Mal di Pietre”) spans 20 years, following the destiny of a passionate, free-spirited woman who is in a loveless marriage and falls for another man.
