Richard leads a simple life until one day he discovers his wife is having an affair, which unlocks a hidden desire in him. As he secretly watches the affair, he is haunted by memories of his father whose desire for ‘something more’ drove him to suicide.
A Southern Gothic tale - Richard is a typical Southern Gentleman who loves hunting, works hard, and loves his wife, Claire. Life is nice and simple. However, when he discovers her with his best friend Eric, instead of feeling betrayed, Richard finds himself increasingly attracted by the affair and starts to watch. As he falls deeper down the rabbit hole, he wrestles with memories of his spiritually fanatic father whose endless desire for 'something more' drove him to suicide. This loss traumatized Richard as a child and his capacity for longing and deeper intimacy. Where his father couldn't accept the physical, Richard can't get past it. The closer Richard gets to Claire and Eric, the closer Claire and Eric get to each other. She is finding the deeper connection with Eric that she didn't find with Richard. When faced with losing Claire, Richard realizes that he's never fully loved her and confronts his fear of 'something more.'
Cheating Notes
Richard's wife is Claire while his best friend is Eric.
At work, Eric shows Richard a room where two of their workmates are having sex (11:36). It's the only scene in the movie which has nudity (boobs). The rest have strategic nudity only.
Upon reaching his home in his SUV, Richard sees Eric saying goodbye to Claire on their doorstep and kissing her on the lips. That means they're having an affair. He doesn't confront them, and after an initial outburst of rage on the street, he acts like nothing happens in front of the two separately in the following days.
We see the naked upper back of Claire, wearing nothing but thongs, on the bed (26:53).
Richard climbs the roof to spy on Clair and Eric having sex (30:39). He jerks off to it.
Richard spies on Claire and Eric again but only sees them kissing on the couch (41:43).
Richard confides to Mary, his married co-worker, about Claire's infidelity. She consoles him, caressing his leg to signify that she's open to screwing him as part of her consolation. They start having sex against a wall (47:19) but they stop, primarily because Richard tells her that he thought it was what he wanted but didn't.
Richard follows Eric and Claire inside another house but they just kiss (54:51, 55:23).
Richard dates his wife and when they come home, he starts screwing her on top of the kitchen sink (1:07:14). He gets too aggressive and she tells him to stop.
Richard enters the living room and sees Claire riding Eric's cock on the couch (1:14:30). The two notice him...
