The Element of Hope is the story of a man who is completely cut off from the world and lives a life of isolation as if he were part of the house. He is looking for a job but does not seem hopeful. The only person he meets every day is his wife. However, communication between him and his wife is hard. His wife thinks their relationship has no hope. His wife, who is a faculty member at the university, appears to be dating another man.
Cheating Notes
The wife talks to her lover outside her office (24:30). They hold hands and she kisses him on the cheek.
The wife and her lover talk in the car. He talks about wanting to see her bedroom. She kisses him lightly on the lips (26:37).
The househusband comes home and notices another man's pair of shoes in their doorstep (39:36). When he walks further inside the house, he hears the moans of his wife and her lover through the partially opened bedroom door. Instead of confronting them, he leaves and spends time in the nearby park and only returns home much later, when his wife's lover has surely left. Although we don't see the couple talk about it, we see the wife cry, indicating that she knows that her husband has found out about her affair.
The househusband leaves his wife and finds a job somewhere. The wife searches for him, finds him, and they reunite. They go to a karaoke bar where she kisses him (1:10:43). The next morning, they wake up together and have breakfast. All of these interactions between them in their reunion make it look as though nothing has changed between them, and that they are still in love.
Summary
Even if we only hear the moans and the sex scene is not shown, it's still quite sexy when the househusband came home and found his wife having sex with her lover. I also like that the wife cuckolded her househusband despite genuinely loving him, which she displayed when she searched for him after he left.
