Luke and Kate are co-workers at a Chicago brewery, where they spend their days drinking and flirting. They’re perfect for each other, except that they’re both in relationships. Luke is in the midst of marriage talks with his girlfriend of six years, Kate is playing it cool with her music producer boyfriend Chris. Cheating Scenes in Drinking Buddies (2013)
Luke and Kate (Olivia Wilde) are co-workers and they seem to like each other very much. At work, they eat lunch together and flirt with each other. Luke can put his arms around Kate and she does not mind. They are both however in a relationship with different people. Luke is with Jill (Anna Kendrick) while Kate is with Chris. It is ironic because Jill and Chris are actually the ones who cheated on them in spite of them being more flirtatious with each other.
The two couples decide to go out of town together for the weekend. They stay in a cabin by the seashore. On their first morning, Luke’s girlfriend Jill and Kate’s boyfriend Chris take a walk on the beach while the two are still asleep. Their walk isn’t shown, only their arrival in the cabin, but at the very least that means they have the time to talk and know each other more.
Jill and Chris go on a trail hike later that day by themselves because the two don’t want to come. They set up a picnic mattress at the end of the trail, eat and drink some wine, and just get more comfortable by talking to each other. Jill tells Chris she has that nervous feeling and her heart is beating really fast. Then she asks him if it’s just her. She’s referring to the tension between them that she is feeling at that moment. After a bit of musing, Chris gets it and kisses her. She kisses him back.
During nighttime, Luke and Kate drink on the beach. Kate strips naked in front of Luke and invites him to go swimming with her. Luke does not join her. Well, if you don’t accept Olivia Wilde’s invitation to go swimming naked, you lose.
