Plot:
After suffering a car crash, Rebus finds himself in the middle of a web of deceit.
In the opening scene, Rebus attempts to suffocate his arch-antagonist Cafferty in the back of an ambulance after the gangster purposely rams his mentor George Blantyre off the road, leaving him paralysed.
Rebus visits George, the cop injured in the car crash at the start of the episode. He's now paralyzed. Rebus shows George his phone and says it’s a message from Cafferty. Rebus knows it's from him as he got it the day McJagger was stabbed.
Rebus asks George why Cafferty tried to k..l him. George breaks down and says he's ruined everyone's life. George says he thinks his partner Maggie is seeing someone else...
Maggie knocks at Rebus’s flat and the pair begin to kiss passionately and end up in bed. Rebus declares he can't do this anymore now George knows she's having an affair. Maggie leaves and his phone pings with another message from Cafferty. "Don’t ignore me". Cafferty calls Rebus with an ultimatum: get rid of up-and-comer Darryl Christie, or Cafferty will tell the now paraplegic George that Rebus is sleeping with his wife.

Cheating Notes:
An inspector sleeps with his mentor's wife, who was left paraplegic after an accident.
The mentor knows his wife is having an affair and asks Rebus to find the man.
While the two are in the living room talking, we have this dialogue.
"George: So, what's going on, pal? What's been happening?
Rebus: Same old shite, mate, eh? There's a new lassie joined the team. Siobhan.
George: Has anyone fired into her yet? Have you?
Rebus: She's way out of my league, mate.
George: Rhona was out of your league.
Rebus: Oh, now you tell me, ye cunt, ye.
George: You're divorced now, son. You should be screwing riding everything."
At that point, George’s wife, Maggie, Come bring them some beers and hear what her husband just said:
"George: Just saying to John there, needs to get himself back out there, eh, now he's divorced.
Maggie: We've all got to move on. Here you go."
Poor George doesn’t know that Rebus is already enjoying his celibacy starting by screwing his wife Maggie!
