The armed conflict between the Philippine military and the communist resistance at the beginning of the 1990s forms the backdrop to this study of three individuals who, for different reasons, are trying to resolve an untenable situation.
Cheating Notes
It's nighttime, Emma takes a bath outside the couple's hut located in a relocation camp for villagers displaced by the government war against communist rebels. She enters her home wrapped in towel and we find Nardo, her husband, and their friend, Joel, a soldier, hanging out in the living room. She tells them not to peek as she puts her clothes on while their backs are turned against her. After Joel gives them a can of sardines that he took without permission from the camp rations, Emma says he should stay for dinner while playing with her hair (a sign of flirting) (9:20).
When Joel doubts if she can really climb coconut tress, Emma tells him he'd be surprised at the things that she can do while they gaze at each other in a certain way in front of her husband (11:52). The latter seems to notice the (sexual?) tension between them and breaks it by telling Emma it's her turn in the card game they're playing.
In the subsequent dialogues, we learn that Emma and Nardo arrived at the relocation camp one year ago, and Joel became their friend ever since, stealing food, medicine and other supplies from the camp rations for them. When Joel says he has no intention other than friendship in helping them, Nardo laughs sarcastically and uncontrollably (42:58), which makes us wonder if he knows that the real reason why Joel is helping them is because he wants to screw his wife, if he isn't doing it already.
Nardo announces that he is going to fetch water and tells Joel to stay and keep Emma company (45:04). It leaves us wondering again if he is intentionally giving the two time to have sex, but he does tell Joel not to touch his wife before he steps out of the door (but this is a running joke between them).
When Nardo leaves, Joel tells Emma that he can't understand her husband. That Nardo is obviously jealous of him but still asks him to watch over her (47:04). She says it's because Nardo trusts him as a loyal friend. They then stare at each other's eyes, and just like that they begin making love passionately. They go at each other as if they've been waiting to be alone together and holding back for quite a while. Their dialog while having foreplay is sexy too, talking about her husband's penis size in comparison to his. He says his hands are bigger and then he sucks his thumb. She says his mere gaze makes her wet. then she kneels down to give him a blow job.
They move to the bed where they have hot, passionate, full-on sex in different positions. And when I say passionate, it really is passionate. Their kinky dialog continues too, like when he's screwing her doggy-style, he asks her if Nardo does it to him. She also rides him nicely.
Summary
Hot. And it is a great dialog-driven, slow-burn type of movie. The slow trickles of reveals as the movie goes on are awesome. The only bad thing about it is that it is shot in low, indie-film style quality, but hey, maybe that's what added to its charm.
