Stephen Seary, a charismatic and successful stage designer, returns to his small hometown in Australia to say goodbye to his dying mother. What was to be a quick trip descends into chaos, drama, and at times downright funny moments as Stephen navigates family responsibilities, a difficult relationship with his father, old friends and past lovers, all while trying to return to Europe for a major opera contract.

Stephen Seary, a charismatic and successful stage designer, returns to his small hometown in Australia, and immediately, he calls Jenny, his ex-girlfriend, informing her that he's in town (2:38). She tells him she can't talk at the moment because her husband is beside her. When Stephen asks her if he can see her, she says unlikely and ends the call. When her husband asks her who called her, she says its a woman from the gym.
Jenny does meet Stephen eventually, but only for lunch, she says (29:54). They talk about the past, about their love life when they where in their early 20s, and next thing you know, Stephen is screwing Jenny hard on the bed (32:11). A sheet covers their body so we don't see anything, but we see some of Jenny's side boob when she puts her clothes back on after sex.
