After a drastic experience, Nina takes some time out on an island in northern Germany to be away from work and her husband Patrick. She meets Dan, her rich, charming and mysterious neighbor, who immediately captivates her. At first she fights her desire, but soon the two become increasingly entangled in a web of eroticism, lust and secrets.
