No harm in trying i'd say but i've heard about it working for few lower quality movies from folks.
I like how you're keen to search for cheating wife plot movies, I had initially gone the scraping route but the issue is plot on imdb doesnt always reveal everything.
I try a very different route via imdb advanced search and i have been getting very good results via the method. But it's not automated and requires manual effort ( Because mainstream/ even many low popular movies are already mentioned in many lists. The ones not mentioned on imdb always don't have a good enough plot, No imdb tags etc ) .
I divide my searching based on countries
