Brian receives a tape from his wife
Brian is a soldier stationed in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. One day, he receives a video tape from his wife. It’s supposed to be a copy of the movie Deer Hunter. He watches it with his fellow soldiers. When he plays it, the opening scene of Deer Hunter comes up but it is immediately replaced by a home video recording of a woman getting pounded doggy style by a guy on the couch. The soldiers cheer when they see it. Brian cheers along with them, but when he realizes that the woman is actually his wife and the guy fucking her is their neighbor, he gets mad and starts crying.
Brian is taken out of the room. His fellow soldiers continue watching the tape. Brian’s wife approaches the video recorder and speaks directly to the camera, saying “Who’s fucking around now, Brian?” Then, she makes a ‘fuck you’ sign with her hand. The soldiers try to rewind the tape to watch it again but their superior officer stops them.
Anthony’s girl has a new friend back home
Anthony (Jake Gyllenhaal), the main lead of the movie, receives a letter from his girlfriend Kristina. She says that she’s got a new friend, her hotel manager, and that he’s a good listener. His fellow soldiers make fun of him and try to make him jealous. One soldier paints a scenario where Kristina goes to a vacant room in the hotel and does a pole dance for the manager. Another soldier encourages Anthony to call her, then adds “Even if she’s fucking someone else.” and couples it with laughter.
When he comes home from the war later, he visits Kristina in her home and finds that she is already with another guy. The guy seems to be young and good-looking, so it’s probably not the hotel manager.
