Having survived a terrible nuclear war that destroyed the human race, a family of three persons, Jean, his wife Anna, and their son Patrick, lives in a trailer by the sea. To disturb their “peace” comes the intellectual Quentin and former military Len. Instead of being comforted, Jean, who is slowly dying of radiation sickness, hates their presence. The hatred of Anna towards Jean increases as he feels the need for her to be impregnated by Quentin for the salvation of mankind. But Anna doesn't have a problem making love to the younger and more attractive Len.
"Ecce Homo" is a thought-provoking, downbeat, well-acted tale of the last survivors of a nuclear holocaust. At first, it seems that only one family of three, the husband (LeRoy) slowly dying of radiation sickness, his earthy wife (Papas), and pubescent son are the only survivors on a small coastal pocket of the Mediterranean. But soon two men find them and join them...they are the only ones left that escaped the widespread contamination of fallout. That is when the trouble starts...the younger and more virile of the two men easily makes friends with the wife and son and has no intention of taking orders from the jealous, dictatorial and moralistic husband. The neglected unsatisfied wife is soon driven to open rebellion against him, his constant negativity and selfish demands drive her into the arms of the handsome lusty man who treats her as the desirable partner she needs to be....tempers and hatreds soon grow to alarming degrees that jeopardize their very existence. The passions and drama draw the viewer in and you will watch spellbound as the final denouement unfolds.
Cheating Notes
At 47:46, Anna (wife of Jean) and Len, the younger of the two men who came to Anna and Jean's camp, fuck beside a stream away from the camp. This is after a series of flirtatious looks and sexual innuendos between them while in the camp.
When Anna and Len return to the camp, Anna looks at Jean with a smirk on her face, like she's telling him that yes, she fucked the bad boy Len instead of Jean's choice, the intellectual Quentin (note: I based this on the movie description above which states that Jean wanted Anne to get impregnated by Quentin for the survival of mankind. I'm not sure if this is accurate because there are no subtitles).
Jean confronts Anna inside the trailer, and then he comes out and engages Len in a physical fight which ends up with him getting shot by his wife's new young lover.
Anna's grieving for her husband is short-lived (if she even did that at all) as we immediately see her cavorting with Len on the beach. They swim naked and kiss in the water, and then continue making out on the sandy beach.
