Gary Ellis (Christopher Eccleston) is a very insecure and jealous pilot who owns an airplane. He loves his wife Tess (Kate Hardie), but maybe because of his physical condition, she cheats on him with the writer and her colleague Alex Madden (Rhys Ifans). One day, after his wife has had sex with Alex, Gary has a heart attack. Meanwhile, a seventeen years old man has a fatal accident with his motorcycle, and Gary receives his heart, through a successful operation. Gary decides to look for the donator's mother, Maria Ann McCardle (Saskia Reeves), a very religious woman and she becomes obsessed for Gary. The explosive combination of jealousy, affair and obsession leads the quartet to a tragic end.
Cheating Notes
Using his small plane, the husband follows his wife to her lover's place. He confronts her at their home later, with her denying that she's cheating on him, and this leads to the husband having a heart attack and becoming wheelchair-bound.
During a party, the wife's lover (he's a writer, the asshole, witty type, and works with her at the same place), dances closely with her in front of the wheelchair-bound husband. They fuck in an isolated spot in the venue, up against a grilled window (7:00).
The wife comes to her lover's place and fucks him (9:10). This continues in separate scenes until 12:39 when we see her naked.
The husband receives a heart transplant and becomes healthy and strong and can walk again. The wife breaks it off with her lover, but he's not gonna go away.
The wife has passionate sex with her husband (29:25).
The wife gets seduced by her lover successfully and resumes her affair with him. They fuck in the company's parking lot (55:47), and their tryst is captured by the security cameras and her husband is going to see the footage later in the film.
Summary
A hot and compelling drama with a tragic, shocking ending. It's the kind of ending that reminds us that infidelity should just remain in movies and fantasies, but of course, that won't happen because people will be people and horny wives will be horny wives.
