Arthur and Monique are small-time criminals, pulling jobs with Monique's daughter, Maria in tow. Max is a security guard in a loveless marriage. When their paths collide it seems that revenge is the only option.
Arthur and Monique are a mixed racial couple with a young daughter who are a pair of crooks. His bum leg reduces him to being the driver in bank robberies. So one fine day while they have the daughter in the back seat and dad at the wheel, mom goes to make an unscheduled and unauthorized withdrawal. A security guard shoots her dead, but no one suspects Arthur is involved and he drives away both empty handed and a widower.
For his daughter's sake and to stay under the radar, Arthur moves out to a real rural area. He gets involved with a married woman Lindsay Goranson, but she also has a past and an interesting connection to Arthur through her husband.

Arthur gets a place beside the security guard who shot his wife dead and the guard's wife. One day, he talks to the wife while her husband is at work. She appreciates it so much that when he kisses her, she doesn't object and they start making love on the couch, with her taking off her top but not her black bra (1:03:05). But then, he suddenly shoots her dead. In the next scene, she is well and alive, meaning at least the part where he shoots her is just a fantasy. But what about the part where they kiss and have foreplay on the couch? Probably part of his fantasy too, based on their dialog in the next scene, but hey.
