Three novellas are connected by the character of Don Julio. The old man lives alone in a hacienda which is being absorbed by the huge Mexico City. Don Julio escapes from the surrounding reality into the world of memories. Images from the past are so strong that they reawaken his old love for aunt Cecilia and young Clotilde.
Cheating Notes
Don Julio, a rich old man, marries the poor but attractive young lass, Cleotilde. Before their marriage, he dreams of having sex with her at the start of the segment (49:12), we see Cleotilde naked in the bathtub (55:17) and they have pre-marital sex (59:12).
Sometime after their marriage, Cleotilde tries to seduce Rufino, Don Julio's servant (1:05:23). He rejects her, saying Don Julio is like a father to him. Frustrated, Cleotilde goes to the bull pen and is saved by Isidro, the bull handler, when the bulls rampage. Isidro seduces her, they kiss and have implied sex (1:06:37, only the after-sex dialog is shown, where she's wearing silk lingerie on the bed).
Cleotilde leaves her husband's side to have sex with Isidro (1:11:41). Unknown to them, her husband wakes up and sees them through a gap in the curtain door of the room they're having sex in. He doesn't interrupt them but only confronts Cleotilde when she returns. She's defiant instead of remorseful, and tells him that she's sick of him and that he smells old.
