Four women from Gubbio - Angelica, Violetta, Lisa and Bettina - are brought before the judge by their respective lovers and husbands, as guilty: Angelica, a nun, guilty of impairing the physical conditions of her lover Righetto, which she made available to all their sisters; Lisa, maid, for having extorted from her masters, in agreement with her lover and for his sake, one hundred and fifty florins; Violetta, wife of a man who neglected her, for having taken the place of a prostitute, with whom her husband and his friends used to mate; Finally, Bettina, for having deceived her jealous consort by pretending to be dead, only to later become the lover of certain friars and become pregnant, to stage her own resurrection in agreement with them. The defender, appealing to their femininity, obtains the acquittal of the four accused from the judge (who will soon take advantage of it).

A Nun
A young woman, Tessa, is forced by her family to become a nun and take the name of Sister Angelica of Charity. She has a secret love affair with Enrico and neither of them wants to give up on the other. Sister Angelica organizes a clandestine meeting in a convent with Enrico, promising him a night of love. In reality, she uses him to please all the sisters. When Enrico is injured and discovers the deception he denounces the beautiful Tessa.
The Scam
Eugenia, wife of a wealthy banker, complains to her husband that their maid Lisa has too much work and little time to devote to her and therefore demands that a manservant be hired to help her. Eugenia makes her husband hire Bitto, her lover. What she doesn't know is that Bitto and Lisa are also lovers and have plans to scam them, exploiting their propensity to commit adultery, and extort a large sum of money from them. Found guilty, Lisa is denounced and Bitto becomes a particular type of servant of the rich banker.
4 Wives
Four men often meet to drink and play in one of the men's houses while neglecting their respective wives. Violetta, the wife of the house owner, airs her sentiment to them but to no avail. After their drinking session, the men will usually mate with a deaf and mute prostitute inside a barn, venting their carnal desires on her. The wives, having discovered their husbands' adultery, take the place of the girl and make love to their husbands without them noticing. When the men realize the deception and each of them has deduced that the other three have made love to his wife, a fight ensues among them. Later in court, they demand that Violetta, the organizer of the exchange, be denounced.
The Miracle
Bettina, the wife of a very jealous man, is tired of her restricted life and wants freedom, even for a while. One day, Friar Luce passes through their town and helps her escape by making everyone believe that she committed suicide by throwing herself into the well. In the open countryside, the two abandon themselves to lust and are discovered by the brothers of Friar Luce who also want to "lie" with the woman. Bettina accepts and goes to live in the convent. When she becomes pregnant, Friar Luce organizes a ceremony at the well with her husband who is still grieving for the loss of his wife and here, miraculously, Bettina is hoisted alive and well. Everything seems resolved, but eight months later, Bettina gives birth to a black baby, and there's one black friar in the convent.
After hearing all the love stories of the women, the judge acquits them and they all end up in bed together.
